“Toys are children’s words
and play is their language.”

— GARRY L. LANDRETH

Children communicate best through play.

As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) and experience working with children ages 5 and up, I use pretend play, games, therapeutic toys, expressive arts, sand tray and more, all while meeting our treatment goals. I want to make therapy inviting for children and show that it can be a lot of fun for them, as well!

Play therapy is not just for kids, though. I utilize sand tray and expressive arts with teens and adults, too, as it can oftentimes feel safer to communicate through these mediums instead of spoken language.

What is Play Therapy, anyway?

Association for Play Therapy (APT) defines play therapy as "the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development."
